It’s funny what an election will do. I’ve noticed a lot less grievance from the fanatical Trumpian culture here around my Northeastern Alabama community. As if they were crying infants in the night finally given their blanket. Not seen as much are the ridiculous flags flown from trucks. All of the yard signs and snarky baiting apparatus to gaslight opposing viewpoints are gone from properties and businesses. It’s apparent the most aggrieved and bitter souls who were once in their graves of discontent have been given new life.
Reader of truth and grace, there is a great temptation that that malignant vacuum that brought them into their graves after the 2020 election is now waiting to embrace you. Be mindful, lest you take their place in that grave which was theirs during the past four years. Truth seeker, I know it is hard not to get weary and give in to the agency that would place you into their old tomb. I know what it is like to once again become addicted to any political news only after I had worked hard and planned to elect a candidate and a society where which would allow myself to get back to paying attention to the more mundane things in my life. The opposing news apparatus of the echo chamber the zombies took in to placate their perceived pain all of these years.
There will be a great desire to be spiteful, hateful, and ‘doom scrolling’ addicted in the coming years. Be mindful! Research and consume via discernment on current events yet, don’t be a ‘pig to the ever feeding trough’ of information you think you crave even if it is for the benefit of society and democracy. Reader, you can take a break once and a while. You can focus on things that are closer to your personal life. Some information is needed and righteous. Just not all of the time. You can be an activist and also a parent, grandparent, son, daughter, friend, aunt, uncle, poet, artist, traveler and just plain ‘wonder luster’ all at once! But, you can never be a zombie like so many have been these last four years who now got what they think they wanted. ‘Goodness grasper’ here is the secret that we know that they don’t.. People can be dead inside no matter which side has technically won in politics. They can be alive under the same circumstances. Those who hate, ignore reality, are gullible or just don’t care are the walking dead no matter what is happening in Washington and in state capitals. These years will pass and pass quickly. Be alert, informed only by truthful and selfless sources of information with an obligation to humanity. Be active when energized and restful when weary. What the zombies don’t know is they are still dead inside even if they are walking the streets again. With the more than likely catastrophe that is now about to unleash itself on America’s finances and physical health they will certainly be back in their proverbial graves sooner than they know. God forbid an actual grave which is also a likely fate for most of them. The last administration’s novel corona virus response proved just that! Knowing this go anywhere and everywhere to spread your gospel of hope and goodness! Just don’t go into the grave you were never meant to visit. That’s a fate for the other side!
