I’ll never forget the strange encounter I had on Easter Sunday in 2015. Looking back it would seem I did not behave in any way to incur strife from other patrons that evening when I went to watch soccer at a local Applebee’s. Save for the fact I chose to eat at Applebee’s! Another chain establishment known for a culture of blue collar resentment against ‘college boys & girls.’ A place that is intentional in attracting a certain type of clientele who wear their social inadequacies on their sleeves.
As I sat in the bar that night I peered into a television set right above three twenty somethings who had driven down to Gadsden from Sand Mountain to probably flirt with one of the staff, they’d seen a time or two before. They were drinking. Sometime into the evening one of them speaks across the bar to me asking me ‘if I had a problem’ and wanting to know ‘what I was looking at?’ Typical loutish behavior for someone drunk and who has resentment for someone dressed in a way they perceive as having more social influence then themselves. Idiotic and false assessment of the situation in believing I was staring at them instead of the television I was actually viewing to watch a sporting event. I told him quickly that I was watching a soccer game on a t.v. that happened to be directly above his head. Nothing more, nothing less. Wanting to prove himself still, he was not having it as far a my attempt to truthfully nix the situation. So, in defense I engaged as his friends watched in embarrassment as we ‘peacocked’ back and forth. Finally, a middle aged woman also from a ‘working class’ background took their side and I got into it with her some. Once the tiff cooled down she later hugged me and told me ‘she did that to try to divert attention away from me to protect me, since she felt I’d be outnumbered in the parking lot if it came to that.’ WHAT?????? All of this coming because I just wanted to watch a sporting event on television all alone in peace and quiet on an Easter Sunday night. I joked with the bar keep a couple of weeks later when I came in to order take out. I asked her if she’d seen the ruffians from that evening again. She stated yes and ‘that they had come back looking for something.’ I took that to mean another sparring match with me that could lead out into the parking lot.
Whether it has been aggressive drivers tailgating my car, to next door youth urinating in my front yard. Or drunks attempting to pick fights with me in chain restaurants, there is always one common theme to boorish behavior. That being they come from low income and educated citizens from loutish environments. The surprising thing I have learned in myself and for those of us who have education, connections and money; we have the same vitriol toward those types of people as much or more as they do for us. I’ve seen it in myself even if it has been subconscious. We may not realize at times. If we do, we have a great way of keeping it off of display to the public. We usually don’t have a bunch of decals on our cars stating our disgust with another group in society. Yet, we do have that same disdain whether we discern it or not.
I read somewhere that many of the ‘libertarian tech fascist’ behind the dark enlightenment harbor strains of eugenics. That it’s a driving factor behind their lobbying efforts when they throw millions behind candidates and legislative desires. When I first consider this I see it as another disgusting facet of their world view. I see it as an even greater reason to send Curtis Yarvin, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk to Mars as they’ve requested in their pursuits to get humanity there. But, then I get out into everyday life. I drive in traffic. I see another litter bug who doesn’t have enough respect to simply wait to throw trash into a recycle bin or trash can. I break check yet another driver who doesn’t have the proper intelligence or self control to drive safely. I then ask myself the question: What if there is something to what they say about who really belongs on earth to live out their years and who doesn’t. What lines of genetics deserve to be extended compared to those that may not?
Then all of the sudden I don’t get so mad at their ‘madness.’ That’s when I realize I’m slipping into a dangerous level of cynicism that is ungodly and immoral, even if it seems justified. One that could be an unspoken motivation for lobbies like Project 2025 and legislation like the Great Big Beautiful Bill. Legislation that is sure to hurt MAGA voters a lot more than those who have education and influence. That is set to injure Republican voting majority states much more than ‘blue ones.’ That have more money by having a greater tax base from which to work. That have better leaders who use those funds in a much more efficient and humane way. That is set to literally kill some of those same people I’m tempted to have disgust for in chain establishment bars and out in traffic.
Then I look at my thoughts on the matter and extrapolate those to the ultra wealthy who see the world in such a cruel fashion and wonder if that is their true motivation? No one is saying it! No one can prove it! Yet, if you read between the lines, intentional eugenics may be a force behind much of what we are seeing being passed into law over the past 5 months. Whether that be in deportations, cutting off of international aide to developing nations or stripping away of ‘safety net’ benefits for the poor here in America. As usual some of this movement’s most avid supporters and voters are failing to realize they are the most hunted game in this ironic hunt for people’s lives who are deemed expendable.
