These Two Are The Same

Former Congressional Representative Cori Bush of Missouri once lived out of her car.  Up until twenty years ago it would’ve been unheard of for anyone like that ever being able to have an opportunity to run for federal office.  According to Forbes $15.9 billion was spent last year across all federal races.  The Harris campaign accrued $1.6 billion while Trump’s gathered $1.1 billion.  There is a strong correlation between the two no one is articulating.  Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s it was understood your federal representation came from someone who had a college degree. Who came from a relatively affluent sector like law, healthcare or were a CEO from Wall Street.  Alexandria Ocasio Cortez was a former bar tender prior to gaining access to congress. Before, the ultra wealthy really never had to worry about candidates more representative of every day voters.  Now with the amazing growth of grass roots non profits involved in political fundraising there is hope.  Reader, just understand those who benefitted from the old way don’t like it.  This is the one unintended good of Citizen’s United. Originally crafted as a form of ‘free speech’ where oligarchs could purchase their own legislation it was one of the avenues that led to any American being able to state the same.  For the foreseeable future this new paradigm will be how Americans become involved with politics.  That being a flabbergasted money losing pissing contest between the very wealthy and all of us.  Closing this entry I can’t say whether that is good or bad.  I guess somewhere in between.
